The Brands Winning on Social Right Now Are Doing This Differently

Managing social media means we spend a lot of time watching what earns attention and what gets scrolled past.

Lately, we’ve been noticing an interesting shift. As AI-generated content floods our feeds, the brands creating real human connection are becoming easier to spot.

People aren’t opening Instagram or LinkedIn just out of curiosity or to see what others are doing anymore. They’re checking the pulse of their industry, looking for ideas, following conversations, or making sure they didn’t miss something important. So, when a post actually interrupts the scroll, it’s usually because it feels human, timely, and just a little unexpected.

That’s where brands have an opportunity.

You Don’t Need a Big Production. You Need a Point of View.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that great content requires a big budget. It doesn’t.

A phone camera, decent mic, natural lighting, and someone with something worthwhile to say will outperform a polished campaign that feels generic almost every time.

I use AI every day. It’s one of my favorite productivity tools. It helps me research, brainstorm, organize ideas, and move faster. But it can’t replace the thing audiences connect with most: your perspective.

What Human Content Actually Looks Like

When clients ask what they should post, I usually tell them to point the camera here instead:

  • The work in progress, not just the polished reveal.
  • The people behind the work.
  • The questions clients ask all the time.
  • A lesson you learned this week.
  • A local event, trend, or conversation your audience is already talking about.
  • The behind-the-scenes moments, even bloopers, that weren’t part of the plan.

Ironically, those “imperfect” moments are often the ones that perform best.

And before you panic: this doesn’t mean you need to become a full-time content creator.

Not everyone wants to live online. Most business owners don’t. You don’t need to film your entire day, turn your personal life into content, or post around the clock.

Human content isn’t about making the founder the content engine. It’s about making your brand feel like it’s made up of real people, such as your team, your clients (with permission), your workspace, your process, your expertise, your point of view.

The brands building the strongest communities are showing up consistently with strategy, authentic stories, and insights people can’t get anywhere else.

That’s sustainable and doable. And that’s what people connect with.

If Trust Is Your Business, This Isn’t Optional

Some industries have more room to experiment than others.

If you’re a financial institution, healthcare provider, attorney, consultant, or therapist, your audience isn’t just buying a service. They’re deciding whether to trust you.

That’s why your voice matters. Your face matters. Your expertise matters.

Nonprofits serving diverse communities carry that same responsibility. Cultural understanding isn’t something AI can convincingly manufacture. People know when content was created with them, not just for them.

Arts, entertainment, hospitality, and consumer brands have more room to play with AI-generated visuals. But even the brands building lasting loyalty make sure real people remain at the center of the story.

Be Honest About AI

We encourage clients to disclose AI-generated visuals and video clearly, not because AI is bad, but because transparency builds trust. Platform labels are a good start. Plain language in the caption is even better. People don’t mind AI nearly as much as they mind feeling misled.

The Opportunity Nobody Is Talking About

Social media was built to be social. As more feeds become filled with polished, AI-generated content, humanity becomes a competitive advantage.

Our prediction isn’t that AI will replace creators. It’s that audiences will become better at recognizing what feels genuine. So, use the tools, experiment, and work faster. Just please don’t outsource your thinking, your voice, or your point of view.
