March is special to us for many reasons—Women’s History Month being one of them. But this month also marks a milestone close to our hearts.

On March 1, 2021—nearly a year into the pandemic—we took a leap and built the agency we had always dreamed of. Four years later, we’re not just proud of the brand we’ve built, but of the people we’ve become along the way. This journey has been anything but ordinary or easy, and we wouldn’t trade a single moment of it.
To celebrate our fourth anniversary, we’re reflecting on the 4 biggest lessons we’ve learned along the way.
Four years ago, we set out to rid the world of boring logos and websites—one project at a time. Today, Captiva is humanizing brands and amplifying their impact, fueled by incredible partnerships, meaningful work, and a whole lot of FLAMAZINGNESS.
We’ve learned a lot along the way, but these 4 lessons stand out:

From day 1, we treated Captiva as more than a business—it was a brand. Investing in our identity, voice, and positioning has been the key to trust, recognition, and impact.

We wouldn’t be here without the mentors, champions, and collaborators who have guided us. Relationships—especially our executive coach (a total game-changer!)—have powered our growth in ways we never imagined.
✅ The Back End Matters as Much as the Front End
Processes = Power. The right systems, boundaries, and strategic “no’s” have allowed us to scale while staying true to our mission and values.
✅ A Dream Team Makes the Dream Work
Our secret weapon? A tight-knit crew of 40+ vetted seasoned specialists who embody Captiva’s culture and values. We stay lean, nimble, and high-impact—giving clients top-tier talent when they need it most.

In four years, we’ve had the honor of partnering with some very special mission-driven nonprofits, national foundations, family-owned businesses, and powerhouse women entrepreneurs. Every project, every client, every story has left a mark on us, and we are forever grateful for the trust they’ve placed in Captiva.
💬 What We Would Tell Our Younger Selves…
Four years ago, we took the leap into entrepreneurship. If we could whisper some wisdom to our past selves, it would be:
📌 Get a rock-solid accountant and lawyer—trust us, both are ESSENTIAL.
📌 Never burn bridges. Relationships come full circle and your reputation follows you EVERYWHERE.
📌 Trust your gut. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it and walk away. More opportunities will come in due time.
📌 Believe in yourself—because you are capable, prepared, and more than enough.
