Top 5 Marketing Trends to Watch in 2025
đ 1. People Are Searching Differently (Adjust Your SEO Strategy Accordingly)
- Chatbots Are the New Search Engines: More people, especially those under 50 years old, are turning to AI like Perplexity or ChatGPT to get their answers instead of Googling. Why? Itâs faster, more direct, and feels conversational. If you want to show up, make sure to optimize your content for AI and provide clear, concise, and structured answers to common questions.
- Google Is Changing, Too: Even Google is adapting to the impact of AI. Now, itâs giving users summaries right on the results page, which means fewer people are clicking on links and getting their answers quicker. To stay visible and be found, focus on local SEO (this is especially important for small businesses), optimize your images & videos with detailed metadata, and lead with value.
- Forums and communities:Â Reddit and Quora are another way people are searching. Find a way to get on these platforms and share your expertise.
- Voice Search and Voice Commerce: Ever ask Alexa or Siri a question? Your customers are doing it, too. Voice search is booming due to its convenience and speed. The impressive stats prove it: 40% of adults use it daily, 50% of ALL searches are voice-based, and 40% of voice search answers appear in the highly coveted position zero of Google. To stay competitive, focus on natural, conversational long-tail keywords, local SEO, integrate voice shopping capabilities, and mobile-first strategies. Think about how people talk, not how they type.
â 2. Be Everywhere (and Consistent)
Never rely on one channel. Your audience doesnât stick to just one platform (and neither should you)âthey jump between social media, emails, websites, and even real-life in-person interactions. Thatâs why your brand message needs to be seamless, relevant, and consistent across email, social media, website, search, etc., aka OMNICHANNEL. This does NOT mean dilute your efforts through a spray and pray approach. Your content still has to be strategic, creative, and value-rich so it attracts your right audience.
đŁïžÂ 3. Augmented Audio Listening: As we’ve mentioned, we’re big fans of podcasts and listen to well over 1,000 episodes per year. And in 2025, Podcasts are predicted to be even more interactive, personalized, and immersive. Everything from AI-driven content creation and more sophisticated listening experiences (think live shows to virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)), or live listener participation, will make podcast consumption more engaging and accessible than ever before.
- Shorter Podcasts: Even though we’re seeing video trends going long-form, we’re seeing the trend toward shorter, more digestible audio content as well (variety is the spice of life, right?). Mini-podcasts or bite-sized podcast episodes of 5-10 minutes may become more popular, allowing listeners to engage with content quickly and in small snippets. These could be ideal for commute times or other moments when a full-length episode isn’t feasible.
- Audio Articles: This one we’re going to be testing ourselves (stay tuned). As the demand for podcast content continues to grow, we could see more traditional media outlets turning articles into on-demand audio. News outlets, magazines, and even book publishers could turn written content into podcasts, allowing users to listen to articles and stories instead of reading them. This trend could extend into AI-generated articles read aloud in a natural voice.
đđœÂ 4. Dare to Be Fun, Bold, and Human
Letâs face itâpeople love brands that make them smile. Humanizing your brand through humor and relatability are powerful tools to stop the scroll, grab attention, and differentiate. If it matches your brand personality, a clever meme or a playful take on a topic can show your human side and make your content more memorable. This is also why it’s super important you nail your UVP to differentiate from your competition. Figure out what makes you the ONLY (not just the BEST) in your category.
đ 5. Trust and Privacy Will Matter More than Ever
As our lives and data continue to be shared online, concerns about privacy and security will also intensify. People care about how you handle their data and whether your practices are ethical. Be transparent about how you use information, lean into your values, and share what your business is doing to make a positive impact. Being known, liked, and trusted aren’t just nice to haveâitâs essential in 2025 and beyond.
đČBONUS: As we saw in 2024, budgets were cut, companywide layoffs increased, and spending was delayed. We see budget tightening continuing into 2025, with the name of the game being efficiency and profitability. Be sure to adjust your messaging to prove the value and impact your efforts make.
đĄÂ THE BOTTOM LINE: Marketing in 2025 is all about being adaptable, human, and savvy, especially with the broader adoption of AI. If you want to geek out on AI, this is a FASCINATING report by Microsoft and Accenture. Thanks to flamiga, Roxy Ndebumadu for sharing.
We know there’s a lot to think about here. But don’t fret. đ€Ż
